You Are My Favorite

Inspired by Wendy’s Friday Finds, I found lurking some things that make life a touch better and easier. (Sorry guys, this is mostly for the ladies).

As we all age we can fret about those little lines and wrinkles. Recently, I have started seeing them pop up and this only causes more worry and of course, more wrinkles---a horrific Catch 22. I asked around getting some first hand advice from those willing to share, which is a feat in itself (Hi there, what do you use to hide the grotesque wrinkles under your eyes).

The answer, Oil of Olay’s Regenerist Eye Serum, or even cheaper, but with the same ingredients – the Walgreen’s brand. I’ve been using it now for 4 weeks and have actually received compliments for how good my eyes look, which I do get a lot anyway since they are a very delightful blue. But I love this stuff, morning and night and all times in between.

And along the line of beauty, I have only recently converted to wearing makeup daily. I used to have a little mascara and lipstick (always lipstick), but a couple years ago I really started to have fun with amping up my appearance on a daily basis. Call it a girly moment that stuck. But the conundrum was always the lipstick. I usually carry around about 5 shades just to see what strikes my mood and because I had to reapply so often.

Solution: Loreal’s Infallible Lipstick. I tried some others, like Covergirl’s Lip Stain (which is not at all what it promises) and found that Infallible truly is infallible. It lasts through eating, drinking, talking, kissing and even sleeping (there’s nothing like waking up with rosy lips in the morning). There are two kinds, a lipstick and a liquid. Both work great and are topped off with a clear gloss. I like to make my lips a bit more dewy sometimes so I top it off with Covergirl’s Wetslicks AmazeMint which has a touch of Crest toothpaste in the gloss to give a minty feel and taste.

The last little conundrum was what to do with all the vegetables I have in the fridge that are getting ready to become science experiments. I eat lots of veggies, but last weekend was so filled with going out and partying, I rarely ate at home so now my veggies are starting to wilt and need a resurrection of some kind.

Soup. I took the mushrooms, red and yellow peppers, tomatoes, zucchini, onions and carrots I had in the fridge, tossed them with olive oil, salt and pepper, roasted them for 30 minutes at 425°. When they have cooled I tossed them in the food processor, made a paste and added veggie broth to suit my taste. Heat them up again and Voila, roasted veggie soup that is sooooooooo good. I ate it all in one day and we’re talking about 4 cups of soup. Smoky, tangy and just so yummy. Try it.

What are some of your treasures that you can’t live without?

Awe.... I love that I inspired your post today. I will actually have to try the Olay cream. I have this one spot I'd like to just go away... maybe it will help.
